Originally the fluorescent dye 2’-chloro-7’-phenyl-1,4-dichloro-6-carboxyfluorescein (VIC) has been developed by Applied Biosystems (now Life Technologies / Thermo Fisher Scientific) and is mostly used in machines and assays for genetic analyses from this company.
However, during the last years several dyes with very similar spectral properties have been used as VIC replacements: HEX, SIMA, DY-530, Atto 532, Yakima Yellow.

biomers.net now offers primers and probes with the 5‘-modification 2’-chloro-7’-phenyl-1,4-dichloro-6-carboxyfluorescein (VIC).
